Boys & Girls at School
“Boys and Girls at School” is comprised of children’s games and the children who play them. From a starting point of games as a metaphor for human communication, this project’s concept became motivated by the Ontario Progressive Conservative government’s decision to decrease OSAP (Ontario Student Assistant Program) funding. The images from this series play with childlike concepts of advancement and being set back (Snakes and Ladders), naive concepts of money (Monopoly money), and innocent game-ending mini catastrophes (Jenga), while making reference to privilege, and actual financial disasters.
